Defining the intersection between listening and living

Expressions over Espresso

A coffee shop conversation was a very inspiring notion. One that I had not previously thought about. This offers a different post format and idea scheme while also considering atmosphere. Like most things on this blog I will always make a reference to music, so take a listen to the Pumpkin latte playlist below. I envisioned that this selection or a selection much similar to the one below would be playing in the background during the conversation.

If we were having coffee this morning… I would say it has been far too long since we had made time to talk.I would say life is going well, that over the past year I have learned a great deal of things about myself, my marriage and about life. I would tell you that I am utterly exhausted from raising a toddler, but that at least the smiles make it worth it. I would tell you that no matter what we need to not make it so long in-between talking.

If we were having coffee this morning… I would expect our conversation to lead us to what is next? I would tell you that life is funny and I really did not know. I would say that at least currently I am focusing on raising my daughter and enjoying this time in her life. You would probably ask how the wife is and I would reply, the same as usual. I would tell you that we are doing great. I would tell you that I am trying to help her find time to do some of the things she enjoys. I would ask you how you and your wife accomplished this with 3 kids, when we are struggling with 1, you would laugh but I know you would understand.
If we were having coffee this morning…I would probably tell you that I have made the decision to finish my six sigma classes. Though it was relatively expensive I would say that at the very least this is an investment in my future and providing for my family. The class is starting in October. I am looking forward to the expansion in process improvement and increased understanding on the difference between the levels. I would tell you that my current job is going well I should start my new role soon, but it is a very slow transition. I would then explain how I realized that I am reaching a point where I will no longer have any place to go if I stay with my current organization and how we have started to consider alternative option. I would tell you that this is all based on the completion of my class and after that we would  start to talk about the possibility of moving because of job opportunities but that we would only look at making the distance to my in-laws closer.
If we were having coffee this morning…I would tell you that I have been working on creative outlets besides the occasional gaming. I would tell you about how I have been blogging for a little over a year. We would discuss what topics it covers and why I started it. I would tell you that it is a way for me to have a creative outlet. A way for me to communicate some of what I have learned and value to a community. I would tell you that it involves a great deal of music. You would laugh, because we are always talking about music.
What would you tell me if we were having coffee this morning?

Great post — It’s very focused, and I like how you’re imagining a specific person when you’re chatting, even dropping in a few details about *them*, eg:

I would ask you how you and your wife accomplished this with 3 kids, when we are struggling with 1, you would laugh but I know you would understand.

It makes the conversation more three-dimensional. Nice!

Thank you. I was trying to really capture a conversation. Like most of my posts I try to think of them as a dialog with others. Whether that be a specific person or my reader’s. Again thank you for visiting and enjoying the post.
