Get gone and get with it, hate it or love it
I can’t even lie man, sometimes I’m like fuck it
This should be addition, these niggas subtractin’
And why I’m so tense, man, i should be relaxin’
Remember times on the highway with them ten
Done it all the best, cuz ive never seen the pen
Still do it for the streets cause they taught that boy a lesson
You done it how i did it, man, they call that shit perfection
So I thought about dosing something out of the norm with this post and just answering the questions asked. Although I had to include the above hook from Jeezy’s song, How I did it (Perfection), this just captures how I feel when people ask me about maintaining balance. I am a creative so balance to me is always thinking about being creative. Writing, reading and experiencing life are all things that I have to have in order to be in the right state of mind to function.
Normally I would try to create some sort of narrative and spin some type of literary vision; however I do not think it is appropriate as you want to know what I do when I am not writing. So I want to let you in on how I spend time not writing.
(#YOLO: You Only Live Once)
Yeah on that note I just had to throw in a hash-tag for YOLO, because though the statement has over saturated social media and is used too frequently by millennial’s it is true. You must take the time to live.
What do you do when you’re not writing?
- Enjoying the time I have spending time with my wife and daughter.
- Spending time with friends
- Playing video games
- spending time with family
How do you reset and return to this dashboard, refreshed?
I find it really easy to reset and return to the dashboard. Only because I do not think I ever unplug from it. I find time here and there to take a peek, reader other posts and just keep aware of what is happening. I cannot just turn my creative nature off. So even in the midst of enjoying life and living the wheels of my mind are continually turning; I find moments to jot down quick notes for later to revisit the moments of my life and experiences that hold value.
What do you need in your day-to-day life to maintain balance?
I have not really thought about this as I do so many things daily. I guess if I had to say one thing it would be reading. I am a fairly avid reader. So continually reading different things just keeps me motivated to use this knowledge to experience life. Another thing that really helps is to keep the music playing. As long as I can find a song for the mood I am able to move forward.
